Washing your vehicles during the winter is an extremely important task. There are many things that can cause damage to your trucks or other types of equipment which are present in the colder months. Normally, we wouldn’t have to worry about them but the days of snow bring things like rock salt, ice, and other chemicals that can really harm your transports. This means that during the winter, perhaps more so than any other season, washing your vehicles becomes an enormous priority. Although you should always aim to keep clean vehicles no matter what your company specializes in, winter residue can really leave you in trouble if left to sit.
Whether you are in charge of a fleet of tractor trailers, run a construction site, or are based out of a mine, cleanliness is a high goal. Every vehicle or piece of equipment that you may have and use for your job can become filthy very quickly. Naturally, you want to mitigate this issue as much as possible. While normally dirt is not as large a problem as other substances, things like rock salt can slowly eat away at different vehicles and corrode the metal on your machines. The problem becomes the ability to effectively wash your vehicles during cold, possibly below freezing, temperatures.
Making sure that the outside of your vehicle doesn’t become a solid sheet of ice has often held back many people from washing them as often as they should during the colder months. No one wants to have to spend the time making sure that every possible spot has been cleaned only to then have to chisel back into the cab. The problem is, not washing the machines can do more damage to them in the long run than trying to get some ice off. If possible, try and put the drying vehicles in the sun. This will automatically help. If this isn’t a choice, then perhaps keeping the vehicle running warm for a few moments will help instead. This is, of course, only if there are no air blowers to speed the drying process.
No matter how tempting it may be to leave the dirt and snow spots alone until spring thaw, it simply isn’t something that should be done. Make sure that you are careful with all of your vehicles, and that includes in regards to washing as well. Contact Neptune Wash with any questions you have about our services.
