I had to take a trip recently across state lines. In what is normally an hour drive, I ran into no less than five different road work zones. Not only did this mean that it took me almost two hours to make the trip, but it also means that I needed a car wash by the time I got to where I was going. Between all of the dust and other dirt that was being kicked up by the construction, my black car looked like a patchy gray color when I parked and got out. Not only does this look relatively bad, but it might be doing more damage to your vehicle than you realize.

For most people, going through a construction zone is little more than an inconvenience. There is a little bit of a backup, you need to reduce your speed, and depending on where you are driving you might need to turn your headlights on. For many long-haul or over-the-road truckers, however, this can be a time loss of literal hours. The reduced speeds needed to safely get through a work zone can mean that it is almost impossible to continue until some of the traffic clears, especially if it is a steep hill that you are driving on. It can also mean that certain materials that are airborne due to the work may be getting onto the vehicle and either making extremely tiny scratches in the truck or even getting stuck to the wheels and undercarriage as you drive through. This is why it is so important to make sure that your fleet is nice and clean every time it goes out on the road. A buildup of road materials such as asphalt over time can do some serious damage that often cannot be undone once it reaches a certain point.

If you have a large amount of construction in your area or run a business that sees people driving through a lot of these work zones, do yourself a favor and give us a call. Here at Neptune, our automated wash systems can handle whatever the roads throw at you, even multiple work zones. While we can’t help the delay that they will cause, we can help keep your trucks protected and clean for as long as you need us. Check out our products and see what will fit your company the best!
